The bike festival at the start of the season in Lenzerheide
The triple event in Lenzerheide from 8 to 11 June 2023 promises thrilling races and the best entertainment. After the opening event in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic) last weekend, the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Lenzerheide is the next stop in the UCI Mountain Bike World Series in the disciplines Cross-Country Short Track (XCC) and Cross-Country Olympic (XCO). For the downhill professionals (DHI), Lenzerheide is even the first location of the series, which is why visitors can look forward to an exciting first showdown at World Cup level. Unlike in previous years, the first race decisions will already be made on Thursday. On this day, the downhill qualifying races of the juniors and the cross-country short-track races of the U23 category in the women's and men's categories will take place. Admission to the event site is free on Thursday.
"The UCI Mountain Bike World Cup has been the big summer event highlight in the Lenzerheide holiday region for years - a bike festival that thrills young and old. Mountain biking offers action-packed races and emotions like hardly any other sport. We are delighted that the time has finally come again and are doing everything we can to create the best possible conditions for a successful event," says OC President Christoph Müller.
Thanks to existing and new sponsors
In 2019, the Graubünden insurance company ÖKK joined the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Lenzerheide as a partner and, after a year's break due to Corona, became the local main sponsor from 2021. The organisers can count on ÖKK's support again this year. "We are very happy to have ÖKK, with its high level of enthusiasm and competence in the topic of mountain biking, continue to be on board as an authentic partner," sponsoring officer and vice OC president Andy Wirth is quoted as saying. Cornèrcard and Motorex have also confirmed their commitment. Bike World, the specialist market for bike fans from the Migros family, is a newcomer to the event - "another very pleasing cooperation at eye level," says Andy Wirth.
